Our Lighthouse Litter was a particularly exciting breeding for Rosabel, combining Telford’s That’s a Keeper at Rosabel (Penny) with Telford’s I’m a Big Shot Too (Shotsy).

We were thrilled when Suzanne Telford offered us the opportunity to use Shotsy for Penny. He is a lovely, well-balanced Beagle with a beautiful pedigree, and we felt he complemented Penny exceptionally well. 

Our goal with this breeding was to produce moderate, sound Beagles with beautiful breed type, balanced structure and the merry, confident temperaments we value so much.

Penny welcomed six puppies—four boys and two girls. We welcomed our first blue tri colours here at Rosabel! From an early age, the litter impressed us with their consistency and balance while still developing into six very individual little Beagles. We are incredibly grateful to Suzanne and Jason Telford for their mentorship, for making this breeding possible, and for helping us welcome this special litter into the world.

The Lighthouse Litter represents exactly what we hope to accomplish at Rosabel: thoughtful breeding, strong pedigrees, careful evaluation and generations of knowledge behind every puppy.

Jupiter’s Moons Litter

Diego × AnotherLuna

Born September 2023

While our Luna was raising her final litter, another exciting chapter was unfolding for Rosabel Beagles. 

In September 2023, Diego was bred to another llvely beagle, also named Luna, a beautiful female imported from Colombia and lovingly owned by a wonderful family in Calgary.

This was a live breeding, and the family welcomed the puppies into the world and lovingly raised them through their first eight weeks. Once the litter was old enough, they came to Rosabel Beagles, where I evaluated each puppy and helped match them with carefully selected families. It was a rewarding experience and a unique opportunity to work alongside another family while sharing the responsibility of raising a well-planned litter.

The litter consisted of six beautiful tricolour puppies, each named after one of Jupiter’s moons—a fitting celestial theme for this special group.

Working with another family throughout the process was both enjoyable and educational. It reinforced the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and thoughtful puppy placement, and it remains one of the highlights of Rosabel’s early years.

Spanish Numbers Litter

Diggory × Luna

Born September 2023

Our Spanish Numbers Litter was Luna’s final litter and the first time we chose to breed her to Diggory. Although it was the smallest litter we’ve ever welcomed, it remains one of the most memorable chapters in the Rosabel Beagles story.

The litter consisted of just two puppies: Uno, a handsome bi-colour male, and Dos, a beautiful tricolour female. Their names were inspired by the familiar saying, “One for the money, two for the show,” a fitting theme for a litter of two.

Their arrival, however, was anything but easy. Luna required a Caesarean section, and for the first week of life both puppies depended on around-the-clock bottle feeding while she recovered. There were moments of uncertainty, but through many sleepless nights and a great deal of care, Uno and Dos grew into healthy, thriving puppies.

With only two puppies—and after sharing such an intense first week together—it was impossible not to become especially attached to them. Finding the right homes was incredibly important, and I took my time selecting families who would love and cherish them for the rest of their lives.

Though small in number, this litter had a lasting impact on my breeding program. It reminded me that every puppy is precious, that even the most carefully planned breedings don’t always go as expected, and that the greatest reward comes from seeing healthy, happy dogs flourish in wonderful homes.

Blizzard Litter

Born in January 2023, the Blizzard Litter arrived during the heart of an Alberta winter and was the inspiration behind their winter-themed names: Aurora, Polaris, and Frost. All three puppies were beautiful tricolours with outgoing, affectionate personalities and the cheerful spirit that makes Beagles such wonderful companions.

As Diego and Luna’s second litter together, the Blizzard Litter continued to build on the foundation of the Rosabel Beagles program. These puppies were lovingly raised in our home, surrounded by children and everyday family life, helping them develop into confident, well-socialized companions.

Paw Patrol Litter

Our Paw Patrol Litter was the very first litter born under the Rosabel Beagles name, and for that reason it will always be especially meaningful to us. The litter consisted of five puppies — four tricolours and one bi-colour — each named after characters from Paw Patrol.

This litter was such a fun and memorable experience for our family. It was our first time raising a litter as Rosabel Beagles, and it was especially special to have the children involved from the very beginning. They helped love, socialize, and care for the puppies as they grew, making those early weeks full of laughter, learning, and plenty of puppy snuggles.

Looking back, this litter taught us so much. It marked the beginning of our breeding journey, helped shape the way we raise puppies today, and gave us our first glimpse of how rewarding it is to see carefully raised Beagles become beloved family companions.
